Market newsletter 10th May 2012


Well, things are pretty hectic around the market at the moment, as we get organised for our second Market day, starting next Wednesday. Here is a picture of ur new poster for the market, and we should have them available here on Saturday. Help in getting the posters/flyers out there would be much appreciated, and thanks to those of you who have already offered, it really does make a huge difference to us!

In the meantime, we've also been playing host to some of our favourite wine suppliers this week, with a trade/press wine tasting happening today in the city centre. Two of our very favourites are staying on til Sunday, and so will be at the market on Saturday to tell you their stories and for you to taste their lovely wines. So, please come along to meet Luigi Valori (from Abruzzo in Italy) and Pedro Azcunaga, from Getxo in Northern Spain. We will also have lots of their wines on tasting and on special offer on Saturday, so a great opportunity to enjoy some wines at very affordable prices (more info on special offers below)
You will notice that I have now stopped even mentioning the weather, because I have given up on it!

Wednesday opening at the market:
Yes, Ready to launch from next week (16th May)! Here is more info on what producers will be with us each Wednesday. We should have a full range of products here, a couple of new additions and a few 'swaps' so make sure you ask/check with us if you want to be sure! We will also be working on having ready to cook/ready to eat foods available for you to bring home on Wednesdays to make it an easier option mid-week, as well as having more ready-to-eat lunchtime options.

Stallholder news:

All Stalls are due to be with us this Saturday, so you should be able to get everything you need. But, please check back on Saturday morning on the website for any last minute changes, which as we all know can happen!

We will have a new stall starting with us on Saturday - part of a new business venture by Lily Ramirez-Foran and husband Alan. They have a new online business called and they have chosen our market for the retail end of the business, so we will have lots of authentic Mexican ingredients available here at the market from this Saturday - and Lily will be here as well to explain all the mysteries of Mexican cooking!

Breanndann tells me that his PIZZA SPECIAL this week is going to be Park Slope Special is grilled butternut squash, parma ham, toasted pinenuts, and rocket salad with balsamic vinegar - sounds amazing!


At the Pantry, our stocks of dairy products is being topped up this week, and apologies for any gaps in stocks while our concentration has been on getting our Wednesday market sorted (we have made the shocking discovery that time is inelastic!)

Our Wine Specials this week include: Aga - down to €8.50, Albarino down to €12.50, Canopy down to €19.95, Pecorino €12.95 and Vigna Sant Angela €25 - all will be open for tasting on Saturday, starting at 11 am!

Not forgetting activities at the Cafe, where (due to the lousy weather!) we're back doing a soup again - Spring Vegetable, and our hot dish of the day is an old favourite - Deconstructed Shepherds Pie.
