Market newsletter 7th June 2012
This is definitely one of those days when we are extremely glad that our market is indoors! We are running around the place this afternoon, reorganising the Pantry and Wine Stall, so we hope that you will like the new arrangement! The newsletter will be shorter than usual, as there is so much to be done ahead of Saturday!
Hope you have the 20th of June in the diary, as it is our official launch day for our Wednesday market, as well as the day when RTE will be filming part of their new Cookery Series - Surf & Turf - here at the market. Invitations will go out with full information next week - you are cordially invited to be here with us.
Everyone is due to be with us on Saturday, and Johnny Fish has confirmed that he will have plenty of fish, despite the poor weather conditions!
Breanndan's Pizza will be back, and will have a brunch pizza as the special. Using TheWholeHoggs sausage and Paddy's organic free-range egg, this is a great brunch option!
Peter of TheWholeHoggs has now installed his own very snazzy fridge, so plenty of room to display all his porky goodness!
Sticky Fingers (Gluten Free) Bakery will be in a new spot at the market, next to Rosies Organics, and will have Seed bread, Orange & Coconut Bread, Lemon Drizzle Cake and Breakfast Muffins, Sun-dried tomato and basil bread and Chocolate Brownies!
At the Pantry, we have sourced a new pasturised, organic milk, from Mossfield Farm in Offaly, so you'll be able to get some on Saturday. We will have raw milk from Glebe Brethan available and all other Ballymore products will be here. We will also have a new cheese from Mossfield, a mild cheddar style cheese (it'll be available on tasting on Saturday) We will have more of the Pork Rillette for sale, and also the Smoked Mackerel Pate and a full range of Irish cheeses available. We've also done a top-up on storecupboard stocks, so hopefully we'll have everything you need!
We'll have a couple of wines available for tasting on Saturday, which are also on special offer. Our red is the bigger brother of one of our most popular Spanish Reds - it is our Aga Seleccion Privada, reduced from €14.95 to €12.95, while our white is French - Jean Paul Malinge Sauvignon Blanc - Val du Loire 2010 Citrus fruit, gooseberry and blackcurrant leaf with a crisp mineral finish, very keenly priced having been reduced from €10.95 to €8.95.
Hot dish of the day at the Cafe is a Beef Rendang, a mild Malaysian Curry, and we will also have some slow-cooked shredded lamb available as a roll or with salads
